Dubai enhances reputation as global innovation hub
Dubai authorities launch ‘groundbreaking’ IP resource, offering innovators access to essential tools for IP registration, protection, and commercialisation
Dubai is aiming to consolidate its reputation as a global innovation hub with the launch of the Dubai Intellectual Property Hub (DIPH), the UAE's first centralised platform for managing intellectual property (IP) and intangible assets (IA).
An initiative of the Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) and the UAE Ministry of Economy, the online platform provides innovators, artists, entrepreneurs, and researchers access to essential tools and resources for IP registration, protection, and commercialisation.
The IP Hub aligns with the recently unveiled "We the UAE 2031" strategy, which aims to establish the Emirates among the top global destinations for creative talent by 2031.
Speaking at the launch of the initiative at Dubai’s Museum of the Future, UAE Minister of Economy HE Abdullah Bin Touq Al Marri said the online resource marked “a crucial advancement in fortifying intellectual property protections for the creative industries, both in Dubai and across the UAE.”
The DIPH aims to provide a seamless, digital experience for registering all types of intellectual property, offering guidance on IP protection and tools for developing comprehensive IP strategies.
In addition to fostering innovation, the platform will enhance Dubai's legal and legislative framework for IP management, ensuring that businesses, artists, and entrepreneurs receive the necessary support to protect and commercialise their intellectual assets.
This is particularly important for firms specialising in sectors ranging from technology and sustainability to healthcare, where IP protection is critical for continued innovation and economic growth.
“The collaboration with the Ministry of Economy in developing this platform is part of ongoing efforts to advance the UAE’s legislative framework, strengthen the readiness of all economic sectors, and create a robust R&D ecosystem,” commented HE Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of DFF.
“By providing vital tools for businesses to thrive, we aim to support their growth and expansion within the UAE, the region, and on a global scale.”
